A review of Paper Theory Patterns Olya Shirt and Dress

I was pretty intimidated by this pattern – sleeve plackets! collars! button plackets! right angles! But Paper Theory’s instructions are great and theres a brilliant tutorial that talks you through everything you need to know. It wasn’t my first time on plackets and collars but I haven’t done them many times and it was good have have such thorough instructions talking you through each step. I made my version of the dress with a lightweight 5oz black denim and its like the fabric was designed with this pattern in mind – it drapes in the right places but also holds up the pockets without the need for buttons and the right angles are super sharp. I went for a size 12 with no mods despite being place at a 16 on the sizing chart for my hips. I asked paper theory and she said it had enough ease that it’d be fine as just a 12. So glad I made that decision because I love the fit. I like this dress for it’s sharp, clean, unfussy lines, and also the causal oversized fit – so it covers all bases.
