I really like the whole style of French Navy patterns and was very keen to try the Fleetwood dress. It’s a really cute shirt dress with some lovely details including an optional skirt ruffle, cuffed three-quarter length sleeves and a panelled bodice. There are two different options of waist-line – one higher and one below the waist. So there are plenty of options and combinations that you could enjoy playing with.
I chose to make version A with a higher waist-line and the skirt ruffle. I made a toile of the bodice first and I’m glad I did as I had to make a few adjustments for my body shape.
I really enjoyed sewing the dress and found the instructions really clear. I made it in a really lovely soft chambray to give it a classic shirt dress vibe but with a twist.
