A fabulously swooshy skater dress

I think this dress is my favourite wearable party dress I’ve ever made. It doesn’t feel OTT party party party but is pretty enough to feel good whilst being comfy.

The pattern is perfectly suited to velvet and it drapes wonderfully. It uses a lot of material for the skirt so I did wonder initially if it was going to stick out but I’m pleased to report it hangs really nicely and only sticks out if you are twirling round like a small child (my favourite dance move).

I found this pattern quite time consuming as I topstitched every seam. It’s a really nice touch but as you are sewing every seam twice it does take a while! It was very satisfying to do though and was definitely worth it as both the outside and inside look neat and professionally finished.

The pattern was easy to follow and I didn’t have any problems sewing it up so it gets a 5 star for pattern and style from me.
