a Chic Jacket that’s quick and easy to sew!

A review of Helen's Closet Pona Jacket

I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester for the Pona Jacket – and it immediately became a firm favourite. It’s an incredibly quick sew with the clear and thorough instructions you’d expect from Helen’s Closet. You can sew one of these jackets in a day, no problem. It’s also very customisable and will look very different depending on the fabric you opt for. I used corduroy for both of mine, a needlecord for the lightweight (red) cropped jacket and a heavyweight 8 wale for the full-on coat version. I think a wool would look amazing and I’m planning a few of these for next Spring.

The drafting is really nifty, with a great facing which means this jacket doesn’t need to be lined – it also has no closures, making this really easy to assemble. You could, of course, add buttons as it does cross over at the front; I added a snap closure to my coat version in order to be able to shut it closed and ward off the Winter chills.

Highly recommend.
