REVIEW
Ellsworth Coat
I’m really thrilled with this coat! Very comfy and a simple, streamlined shape that still has an interesting 1960s style and cool lapels. Yes, please.
Made up this time in a cropped length which is my favourite length for jackets anyway. Also, this is the first time I’ve made this coat pattern so it was a chance for me to check the fit, before taking the big plunge with lots of expensive wool fabric.
I did my usual FBA which in this case has given me some lovely Dior darts, which I think suit the jacket and style really well. I also added inseam pockets, and again they work really well. I’d do these again for sure, as I’m not a huge fan of patch pockets. For now I’ve only added 2 self-fabric buttons but I’ll possibly add another 2 in due course. I only owned 3 self-cover buttons in this size, so couldn’t do them all on the weekend when I was sewing this up.
I am really happy with the shape, the fit, and the comfort level this jacket is giving me.
There’s a little more, and a few additional pics, on my blog post here: https://stitchandfinish.wordpress.com/2017/11/12/cropped-ellsworth-coat-with-inseam-pockets/
