Kalle Shirt & Shirtdress

A review of Closet Core Patterns Kalle Shirt/Shirtdress

This version started out as a wearable toile, and it turned out to be my favourite new shirtdress! It’s first outing was during my holiday to Sicily. The perfect debut for a summery tunic dress.

Pattern mods:
My popover version of the Kalle is the tunic length but lengthened considerably. I don’t remember exactly how much I lengthened by but as much as my fabric meterage would allow for. I also levelled the hem out for there was less of an exaggerated difference between the back and front hems.

Fabric:
This gorgeous rusty coloured linen blend (one of my favourite colours of all time) came from Abakhan in Mostyn. I went and stocked up on linen blends recently for all of my summer sewing plans and in so glad I picked up so much!

Thoughts on the pattern:
Totally love it. I love the shape of the kimono sleeves and cuffs, and the box pleat at the back. I think it’s more wearable, for me at least, with the hem levelled out a bit.
