K
Kate - In a Haystack
a wonderful dress to dance in

I love this dress! It was featured in a digital sewing pack from In a Haystack and I made it to wear to a wedding.

There are lots of variations for this pattern. I made the midi version with the open back. It works really well in this Tencel from Merchant and Mills, which is gorgeously soft and flowy.

I used bias binding in some places like the neck instead of folding and hemming as the pattern suggested. The instructions are good, but people who are very new to sewing might need to ask a friend for a tiny bit of help.

If you're looking for a versatile dress that's comfortable, quite quick and easy, and has the option of the best back ever, Lucy's got you sorted!

Mini version with open back

This dress is so simple to make and perfect for beginners.
The mini version takes just 1m of fabric so it’s great for stash busting.
The bodice shaping comes from bust darts and small pleats at the waistline. The A-Line skirt is a simple flare. The instructions tell you to finish neckline and armholes but folding over and stitching but I want this dress to last the wash so I finished them with some bias binding.
