Vikisews Ailyn Dress

Buy the Ailyn Dress sewing pattern from Vikisews. Ailyn is a close-fitting dress cut on the bias. It features bust darts at the front and a neck opening in the centre back seam. The neckline is round. The dress closes at the back neck with a button and a rouleau button loop. Ailyn is fully lined and is mid-calf length.

Suggested fabrics: Natural silk, faux silk, crepe satin, dress-weight viscose.

For the lining, use the same fabric as for the main garment. This is of crucial importance when it comes to cutting on the bias. Even a slight difference in the properties of the fabrics used for the main garment and the lining may result in the garment losing its shape.

The dress in the cover photo is made of dress-weight faux silk. This fabric is medium weight, malleable, soft and with very little stretch. The fibre content is 100% polyester.

Fabric requirements: When purchasing fabric, buy 5% more than required to account for shrinkage.

Main: 135 cm (53″) wide fabric, cut on the bias*: 3.5 - 4.41 m (3 7/8 - 4 7/8 yd) // 140 cm (55") wide fabric, cut on the bias*: 3.48 - 4.54 m (3 3/4 - 5 yd) // 145 cm (57") wide fabric, cut on the bias: 3.48 - 4.6 m (3 3/4 - 5 yd).

* 135 cm (53") and 140 cm (55") wide fabrics are not suitable for all sizes and heights. Please check the charts in the image gallery.

Sizing: 34 – 52 (approx. UK 6 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Vikisews patterns are designed for a B/C cup.
