Buy the Carrie Skirt sewing pattern from Vanessa Hansen. This design was inspired by a super high-waisted gathered skirt with a panelled yoke worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in a promo shoot. The skirt comes in two waist fittings: Version A with a super high waist and optional loops and lacing in the back, and Version B which finishes at the natural waist. The skirt is cut completely straight at the hem, so hemming is a breeze. Depending on the fabric, it can be a high-end statement piece to wear with strappy sandals and a silk blouse, a cottage core romantic skirt - or why not make a witchy style autumn skirt?

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Medium weight woven materials such as cottons or light wool blends, softened linen, viscose/rayon and silk. It is very important that there is no stretch in the fabric, or the waist yoke will grow and become too big. For the inside of the waist panels, use a lining of a similar weight to your main fabric.

Fabric requirements: If you want to use 140 cm (55") wide fabric, for most sizes you will have to add seam lines through the front skirt to fit the width. This cut line is marked on the pattern (just remember to add seam allowance). You can use the same fabric lengths as stated below.

150 cm (60") wide fabric: Main, 1.5 - 2.1 m* (1.7 - 2.3 yd*) // Lining, 0.35 m (0.4 yd).

* Note that sizes 26-32 must be cut on the cross grain.

Sizing: UK 6 - 32 (approx. UK 6 - 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Thread; non-woven fusible interfacing for the waist yoke (it’s important that the interfacing does not stretch) // Version A: invisible zipper at least 30 cm (12") long // Version B: invisible zipper at least 25 cm (10") long // Optional: fusible interfacing for the hem; topstitch thread; ribbon for lacing (View A), about 3 m (120") for sizes 6-18 or about 3.5 m (138") for sizes 20-32; seam tape for the waist.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step instructions; A4 print-at-home pattern (24 pages); US letter print-at-home pattern (24 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets); projector pattern; envelope design. This pattern has layers, so you can print just the size(s) you need.
