Buy the Bobbi Skirt and Pinafore sewing pattern from Tilly and the Buttons. Bobbi is a button-front skirt or pinafore that’s both classic and bang on trend. Endlessly versatile, it looks so different depending on the fabric you pick and the details you add. Go utility chic with a choice of three pockets, optional flaps and belt loops – or leave them off for an understated look.

It has a gorgeous shape thanks to the curved fitted waistband, princess seams at the back and slim-look bib on the pinafore. Bobbi will be a go-to garment in your me-made wardrobe.

Wardrobe staple

I have been in need of a black skirt for a while and the Bobbi ticked all of the boxes.

I made my skirt in a black corduroy and it worked really well. It barely makes it into the wardrobe after a wash as I wear it again.

With a slight A-line cut, the option for funky facings and a few different pocket options, the skirt alone is a great pattern. As other reviews highlight, there's also a pinafore option!

I've already cut out a second skirt with the other pocket view. I do love the patch pockets but with the size of phones these days, they aren't practical! This isn't a criticism of the pattern, the patch pocket size is proportionate and looks great.

The TATB instructions are amazing, as ever.

I made a straight size 5 but put some elastic in the back waistband to help make the skirt work with a fluctuating waistline.

A dream to wear!

The Bobbi pinafore is the latest pattern to drop from Tilly and the Buttons. Yet again it doesn't disappoint! The Bobbi can either be sewn as a pinafore or as a skirt. The options to customize are almost endless with this pattern. It has three, yes three, different pockets to choose from! The slim fitting bib and princess seams make it super flattering and a sure winner with every body shape. I also love that the bib is lined, this is such a lovely touch and a great way to use up leftover fabric.

As usual for TATB the the instructions are really easy to follow with coloured pictures to hold your hand along the way. This pinafore is now a firm staple in my wardrobe.

My new favourite

An absolute knock out pattern from Tilly! She really hit it out of the ball park. Designed to be a "grown-up" version o f the classic Cleo pinafore, the Bobbi is perfection. I cannot stop raving about it!

As a curvy girl, I was absolutely thrilled that the pattern is available the extended size range. I made the size 8 at the waist (and bib) and graded to a 9 on the hips and it fits beautifully. A real revelation! The shaping of the skirt comes from princess seams which works really well. The fabric I used it sort of velveteen which has a little stretch for extra comfort.

As expected from TATB patterns, the instructions are wonderfully clear. Whilst I made my first version as a pinafore (and it came together in a couple of evenings), it is even quicker to make just the skirt. And with the multiple pocket options, it is really a pattern that you will make over and over again - I know that I will! In fact, I already have ;)

Couple of tips - make sure that your buttons have a long shank otherwise you may struggle to close it and keep it secure, especially when using thicker fabrics. I recommend using jeans buttons like I have.

Secondly, I found the skirt a little short. This is probably because I have a bigger bum to cover! Its not like I'm flashing, and worn with tights its fine, but just something to bear in mind :)

In short, you really can't go wrong with this. Even if you don't like the pinafore version, it is a really great skirt pattern by itself. I guarantee that it will fast become your wardrobe staple.
