Buy the Syd Tie Top and Dress sewing pattern from Syd Graham Patterns. This versatile pattern allows you to make a loose top or a flowy, tiered midi dress. With either option you have the choice to add 3/4-length puffy sleeves or go sleeveless. The instructions will walk you through any combination you choose! No matter which direction you go, the pattern features its signature front tie closure.

Suggested fabrics: Woven cotton or linen with a moderate or fluid drape weighing 3-7 oz/yd². Stiffer fabrics with a voluminous drape can be used, but may result in a "poofier" garment. Knit fabrics with a lot of stretch are not recommended, as they can cause the binding construction to be quite tricky.

Fabric requirements: If you are making a top or dress with sleeves, you will need to add 1 1/8 yd (100 cm) of fabric to the requirements below.

Sleeveless top

60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 3/4 - 1 5/8 yd (65 - 150 cm).

54" (135 cm) wide fabric: 7/8 - 1 5/8 yd (75 - 150 cm).

44" (115 cm) wide fabric: 1 - 1 5/8 yd (85 - 150 cm).

Sleeveless dress

60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 3 1/4 yd (180 - 300 cm).

54" (135 cm) wide fabric (sizes 0-30 only): 2 1/4 - 3 1/4 yd (205 - 285 cm).

44" (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes 0-10 only): 2 5/8 - 3 yd (230 - 265 cm).

Sizing: 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6 – 36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern was drafted for an individual who is 5'7" (170 cm).

Notions: For sleeves: 3/8" (1 cm) wide elastic; small safety pin to insert elastic.
