Syd Graham Patterns Ruby Vest

Buy the Ruby Vest sewing pattern from Syd Graham Patterns. This reversible vest is the ultimate layering piece. Multiple customisation options allow you to truly make the vest of your dreams. 

The pattern includes four different options for the front: tie front V-neck, tie front high neck, buttoned V-neck, and buttoned high neck. All options can be either cropped or full length. The pattern also includes instructions for quilting your vest, but this is optional.

Suggested fabrics: You can use anything from quilting cotton to flannel, sherpa, pre-quilted fabric, and more. The designer's favourites are cottons and linens weighing 3-7 oz/yd². The designer strongly discourages making your bias binding from fabrics on the heavier side of that range, as it can make the construction quite difficult. Knit fabrics with a lot of stretch are not recommended.

Fabric requirements: The requirements are for both the main fabric and lining fabric: you will need the same amount of each. You will also need the same amount of quilt wadding/batting if you are opting to quilt your vest.

If you choose to make your binding from your main or lining fabric, add another 1/2 yd (0.46 m). Or you can purchase 3/4 yd (0.7 m) of a different fabric.

60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 5/8 - 1 1/4 yd (58 - 105 cm).

54" (135 cm) wide fabric: 5/8 - 1 1/4 yd (58 - 115 cm).

44" (115 cm) wide fabric: 7/8 - 1 1/2 yd (80 - 131 cm).

Sizing: 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6 – 36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern was drafted for an individual who is 5'7" (170 cm).

Notions: Bias binding (additional fabric to make your own, or purchase pre-made 1/2" double fold bias tape); three to five 1/2" buttons if making a button front vest // Quilted vest: low or medium loft quilt wadding/batting; optional tools: washable marker or chalk or hera marker to mark lines, basting spray, curved basting pins, binding clips.
