Spaghetti Western Sewing Rue Quilt Coat

Buy the Rue Quilt Coat sewing pattern from Spaghetti Western Sewing. The Rue Quilt Coat is inspired by nonnas, vintage house coats, workwear, mischief, and mornings you can’t be bothered to get out of bed so you take the bed with you.

The Rue Quilt Coat features a retro-inspired collar, dramatic split side hems, bias tape finished seams, patch pockets, long sleeves for cuffing, and an interior strap for wearing the coat off the body when you're too hot. It has an intentionally relaxed/oversized fit with dropped shoulders. You can use pre-quilted fabric or quilt your own, and use snaps, buttons, or tie closures.

Suggested fabrics: Non-stretch woven fabrics such as quilting cotton, linen, pre-quilted fabrics, and upcycled blankets. 

Fabric requirements: Estimates do not include the collar, which is cut from binding fabric or alternative non-quilted fabric. 

Self-quilted fabric

44" (112 cm) wide fabric: Outer, 3 1/2 yd (3.4 m) // Lining, 3 1/2 yd (3.4 m).

If you are sewing a size M or smaller using 54" wide fabric you can fit both sleeve widths on the width of your fabric and will only need 2 3/4 yd of outer and lining fabric.

Wadding/batting: On bolt (93" / 236 cm wide), 2 yd/m // For quilt, one single/twin size (72" x 93" / 183 cm x 236 cm).

Pre-quilted fabric

44" (112 cm) wide fabric: 3 - 3 1/4 yd (2.7 - 2.9 m).

54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2 1/2 - 3 1/4 yd (2.2 - 2.9 m).

You will also need a small amount of wadding/batting for the collar.

Sizing: 3XS – 3XL (approx. UK 8 – 38, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a 5'2" (157 cm) tall person.
