Buy the Hettie Dress sewing pattern from Sew Over It. Hettie is fabulous to wear and quick and easy to sew – everything you want in a party dress!

This trapeze style dress is fitted at the shoulders and bust with a loose fit over the waist and hips. It features a V-neckline and a big pleat at the centre front that creates shaping over the bust. Ties are sewn into the side seams under the bust so you can cinch the dress in at the back for a more defined shape. The hem hits just above the knee, and the pattern includes optional in-seam pockets.

Choose between two sleeve lengths: 3/4 or full-length. Both are finished with wide elastic at the hem creating a cuff effect. There are no closures, and the neckline is finished neatly with a facing.

Sewing level: Confident beginner

Suggested fabrics: Hettie can be sewn in a wide range of fabrics. Choose a brocade or jacquard for lots of volume and structure, or a crepe or viscose for a softer look. Cotton will provide some structure but still have a soft drape and is the ideal choice for beginners.
