Buy the Pekka Jacket sewing pattern from Ready to Sew. Inspired by traditional Japanese clothing, Pekka is an oversized mid-season jacket with wide armholes and a simplified lining. Its slightly cropped sleeves and generously sized pockets make it a stylish choice for layering. Designed with simplicity in mind, Pekka is an excellent option for enthusiastic beginners.

The simple collar and 7/8 sleeves of View 1 suit lightweight fabrics, perfect for a spring ensemble. View 2 has a double collar and 7/8 sleeves with cuffs, suiting thicker materials like quilted fabric for a more robust aesthetic.

Suggested fabrics:

Jacket shell: Opt for a light to medium weight fabric such as silk, linen, batik, ramie, hemp canvas, quilted cotton, or light denim. The versatility of this pattern allows for a wide range of fabric options. Consider medium weight linen for a spring iteration or opt for thick quilted fabric to create an autumnal version.

Lining: Select a lightweight fabric such as Tencel, cotton satin, cotton veil, or silk twill for the lining. Ensure that the choice complements your main fabric. It's crucial to remember that the lining should always be lighter than the main fabric, creating a harmonious balance in the overall garment.

Very stylish for something so easy! And its construction lends itself to being a remnant / stash buster

Easy to make an “impekkable”jacket!

I thought this might be complex as there were lots of pattern pieces but the instructions were so clear that it came together quickly and easily. I am really pleased with my new jacket which will be a spring wardrobe staple I think. Already planning to make another one!

Ready to Sew Pekka Jacket

This pattern was so incredibly easy to make! She has also a nice youtube video for the bagging of the lining! I made this jacket in an afternoon and did not feel rushed! It is a wonderful jacket to make! Even good for holding yarn while you are knitting with it’s giant pockets! Blog post down below reviewing this pattern and talking about all of her patterns in general! Also a few tips and tricks!
