Nice dress

Keyhole isn't great and doesn't lie flat but other than this looks nice and easy to sew

Enjoyable

I love the modern lines of this dress. I made it in a silk twill with wool crepe side panels. I underlined the silk with organza for structure, but left the wool crepe panels alone so that they would fold softly under the ties. The entire dress has a Bemberg lining. Pants are silk.

Modifications: lowered the front neckline half an inch, added subtle shoulder dart for my slightly rounded back, lowered the bust darts a smidge ‘cause I’m 60, and switched the back bent detail to a proper kickpleat because I made this dress for a formal occasion.

I agree with other reviewers, the keyhole ties can’t lie flat. You could use a tab and button instead (like the Remy top) or just lower the neckline enough to the dress over your head and eliminate the keyhole completely. I did that on my second version of this dress.

Nice but avoid the keyhole

Nice pattern, but puff and pencil keyhole ties just never sit flat for me. I made into a boat neck and finished with bias tape instead

Lovely dress, very clear pattern, achievable for a beginner

I really enjoyed making this, and as a beginner and I learned a lot. I also have a nice and wearable garment from it which is very satisfying!

I think the sizing is a little off (it came out a bit big and with some bunching around the arm), and perhaps I should have done a bust adjustment to achieve a better fit. However it might also be my own error as I am just starting out on the journey of cutting and sewing accurately! I also used a fabric that I thought was mid-weight and would achieve the look from the images, but I think it's a little too heavy actually, and this would be nicer in something slightly more drapey.
