Buy the Child/Teen Obélie Blouse sewing pattern from Petits D’om. This blouse for children and teens features a bib and gathers at the front. The bib can be embroidered, decorated with ribbons, or made with another fabric. The front neckline has a unique 'rounded square' shape, and there is a slit at the back (optional for larger sizes) closed by a fine cord or ribbon, button and loop, or hook and eye. The long sleeves are flared at the bottom and gathered at the cuffs with elastic for a nice shape. Or you can sew gathered cap sleeves, which can be embellished with your choice of trim, such as lace or mini pompoms.

Suggested fabrics:

A slightly heavy, fluid fabric, such as viscose, will give your blouse a very nice finish. You can also sew it in double gauze, Liberty, plumetis, cotton satin, batiste, tencel. The lining of the cap sleeves must be cut from a fine fabric such as Liberty.

If a woven fabric is used for the bib, the rest can be sewn in fine jersey with a nice drape (such as viscose, bamboo or linen jersey). Thick jerseys should be avoided, especially for the version with cap sleeves. Be careful, however, when mixing stretch and non-stretch fabrics, as it will be more difficult to sew.

Fabric requirements:

Main fabric: 140 cm wide fabric: Long sleeve version, 60 - 160 cm // Cap sleeve version, 60 - 100 cm.

Secondary fabric (if you choose to cut the bib in a contrasting fabric): 30 cm.

Thin fabric for lining the cap sleeves (required if you use decorative edging): 10 cm.

Sizing: 2 – 16 years. Please check the size chart.

Notions: Decorative trim to edge the cap sleeves, 60 - 110 cm (optional); elastic (maximum 0.8 cm wide) for bottom of long sleeves, 34 - 44 cm; to close the back slit: (a) 60 cm of fine cord/fine ribbon/braided DMC embroidery threads, (b) 6 cm of thin cord/round elastic + one 10/12 mm button, (c) hook and eye, (d) DMC embroidery threads to make embroidered button loop + 10/12 mm button.
