Buy the Hannah Culottes sewing pattern from Pattern Union. The Hannah Culottes are wide-leg trousers that feature a self-faced high waist with an optional button detail on the front pleat, and a centre back zip. The cut-away pockets cleverly flatten the tummy. Style options include midi and shorts length. There are three body types to choose from to ensure a good fit: Even Triangle, High Triangle or Low Triangle.

Suggested fabrics: Linen, Tencel, crepe, rayon, tweed, wool, canvas. If your fabric has a lot of weight or body, you may wish to use a light cotton or lawn for the pockets.

Fabric requirements: Trousers: 3 m (3.3 yd) // Mid-calf length: 2.5 m (2.8 yd) // Shorts: 2 m (2.2 yd) // Amount will vary depending on size of pattern, fabric width, nap or directional print.

Sizing: 6 - 26. Please check the size chart. Note the sizing varies between body types (Even Triangle, High Triangle and Low Triangle). Select size based on hip measurement of your body type.

Notions: Optional buttons (10 large); 20-25 cm (8"-10") invisible zip. Interfacing for the waistband is optional.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home patterns (one for each body type); A0 copy shop files (one for each body type). This pattern has layers, so you can print just the size(s) you need.

Simple trousers, with clear and detailed guidance.

These are suprisingly easy trousers to make, and a lot of detailed helpful instruction is provided to cover fitting. There's also a useful youtube sewalong video to turn to. The amount of detail in these support materials is exemplary.

The trickiest part is the invisible zipper and the technique for finishing the waistband around the zipper. But overall it's less complex and involved than other trousers I've made before.
