Buy the Mersis Dress and Top sewing pattern from Pattern Fantastique. Mersis is a shift dress for superstars. It draws on 80s glam with generous shapes and peek-a-boo features that suggest more than they reveal.

Mersis features Dynasty style balloon sleeves, a deep ‘V’ neck at the back and a midway ‘V’ neck at the front. The ‘V’ necklines are purposefully cut to be above most bra straps and to minimise shoulder drop. The centre front seam features a wide seam allowance topstitched down to enhance the long line from shoulder to hem. The centre front hem has a split and mitred corners for the longer lengths.

Suggested fabrics: Mid to lightweight fabrics that gather well. Soft cotton, poplins, drapey linens, silk twills, rayon, tencel and other cellulose-based fibres. Super crispy fabrics may require more patience when easing in the gussets.

Fabric requirements: 145 cm (57") wide fabric: Top, 150 cm (59") // Mini, 200 cm (79") // Midi, 220 cm (87") // Ankle, 280 cm (111").

Sizing: 6 – 26. Please check the designer's size chart.

Notions: Lightweight interfacing, 50 cm x 60 cm (20" x 24") // Optional: Spray starch; contrast thread to baste with.

Pockets and serious sleeves :)

I’ve been making this dress for months.  The construction wasn’t hard, it’s well drafted and has good instructions. But the fabric I chose was duck egg ‘cotton’ and I planned to dye it black.  Three attempts later it had hardly budged and was this pale denim shade which I thought was dull. Yesterday I finally found a dye which could turn it darker, so I took these pictures before the transformation.  Now I think it’s growing on me!
I’m planning to make the top version soon. Not sure my knees are suitable for this length, but I do love the pockets and beautiful sleeve shape. It’s very easy to wear and feels well constructed.

LOVE! It's such a unique and chic pattern

I loved the pattern as soon as i seen the promo images, it very different to any other patterns out there, so unique and uber cool. I made it up in a Tencel for a more soft and  romantic style so not as structured as the others i have seen in Linen (will be making in Linen next).  Looking at the dress i didn’t think it would be a hard make but, i found it to be a bit of a challenging construction, i prefer a set of generous instructions but found they read more like notes with not much detail (this could also be because of my inexperience).  You can read more about my experience in this blog post
