Buy the Sommar Camisole sewing pattern from Paradise Patterns. The Sommar Camisole is a tight-fitting top for knits with elastane. It features a built-in shelf bralette, front scoop neck and back straight neckline, or you can switch it around to have the straight neckline in front if you would like. The neck- and armbands are 1/2” wide and fully enclosed. You can choose hip or cropped hem length. You can also make just the bralette portion of the pattern for a bikini or yoga top.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

Suggested fabrics: This pattern is specifically made for knits with a high percentage of stretch and excellent recovery. It will not work in knits without elastane (spandex). Choose fabric with at least 50% stretch. The top will have a different feel depending on the weight and thickness of your fabric. Choose a lower weight fabric (around 4-6 oz.) for a lounge camisole. Choose a mid-weight (6-9 oz.) for an everyday top. Choose something heavier (around 9-12 oz.) for a more compressive, sports bra fit.

For beginners, it is recommended to use cotton with elastane, as it is more stable and easier to work with than for example rayon. A rib knit will work, but due to its very stretchy nature, you should size down once or twice, and it will not be very supportive for larger busts. Your fabric choice will be very important in how the final garment fits you.

Any of these fibre combinations will work well: cotton/elastane, rayon/elastane, tencel/elastane, modal/elastane, bamboo/elastane, merino/elastane.

Fabric requirements:

View A (full length): 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 0.75 - 1.8 yd (0.7 - 1.6 m) // 55" (140 cm) wide fabric: 0.75 - 1 yd (0.7 - 0.9 m).

View B (cropped length): 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 0.5 - 1.5 yd (0.5 - 1.4 m) // 55" (140 cm) wide fabric: 0.5 - 0.85 yd (0.5 - 0.8 m).

Sizing: A – P (approx. UK 4 – 32/34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 1/2" (1.5 cm) wide elastic. Choose a soft elastic (lingerie/boxer/knit elastic) for a comfortable, low-support hold. For a larger bust, or if making an athletic top, you may want to choose a wider and/or harder elastic (non-roll elastic).

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (11 pages for sizes A-K, 14 pages for sizes A-P); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: Yes.
