Buy the Miller Trousers sewing pattern from Paper Theory Patterns. The Miller Trousers are relaxed, easy to wear trousers that come with the option of an elasticated or tie waist. They are designed to sit high on your natural waist above your belly button. The silhouette is full around the hip with a pleat in the front leg for extra fullness and deep side pockets. There are darts in the back waist for shaping. The leg tapers inwards towards the ankle at the hem creating a streamlined, slightly carrot shaped silhouette. The finished length is just at the ankle bone but they look great rolled up too.

Suggested fabrics: This pattern was designed especially for woven, medium to heavy weight fabrics like cotton and linen and would look great in some heavier fabrics like drill and canvas or a lightweight denim. It would also make up well in some lighter fabrics that have a draped quality like wool crepe, viscose twill or double gauze. You could also use jersey or sweatshirting fabric for extra comfortable secret pyjamas.

Fabric requirements: 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.25 - 2.95 m (2.46 - 3.22 yd) // 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.65 - 2.45 m (1.80 - 2.67 yd).

Sizing: UK 6 – 28 (approx. UK 6 – 30, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Option A: 32 mm (1.25") wide elastic, 59-119 cm (23"-46.5") long // Option B: scrap of interfacing to reinforce the fabric behind your buttonholes (only if you are using a very light fabric).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (33 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets); US copy shop pattern (2 sheets) // Layers: Yes (print-at-home only) // Projector file: No.

Perfect! - Miller Trousers

I'm delighted with this trouser pattern. The cut is very good, fitting exactly. I made no alterations apart from adding 5cm to the length though I could have just added 2cm. The pattern came together very easily and the instructions were clear. I made the elasticated version in a linen mix.

comfort and style!

I really love this pattern, cute shape and different variations for an elastic or drawstring waist. I've just made mine with elastic but I do have a drawstring pair in the pipeline.

They are super comfortable with good roomy pockets and a super cool construction method that doesn't make them bulky around the waist seam. The construction is very easy but the drawstring was it version does have bound button holes so maybe they are more for an intermediate sewist.

I love the fit they are relaxed and the only adjustments I made are on the length.

At first, I was struggling with the pockets and attaching the front and back together but it was because I missed a step! I was swearing off the instructions but it was just me.
I absolutely love how these pants came together and I can’t wait to make a second pair in a more structured fabric.
The fit is amazing for me. I only had to shorten them by 2”, but the rise and everything else is perfect. I love the pleats in the front and the darts in the back and her tips for how to cut the right size elastic were so helpful and very accurate recommendation for a comfortable fit.
It was so fun to put together and my favourite make so far. I am going to make the LB Pullover in the same colour to wear with it.
