Orageuse Berlin Skirt

Buy the Berlin Skirt sewing pattern from Orageuse. Berlin is a fitted straight skirt. You can choose between two different lengths: short (above the knee, without a front slit) or long (upper third of the calf, with a front slit). The waist is high, with a removable belt under belt loops. Berlin has two front pleats that conceal wide side pockets. The skirt is closed with an invisible zipper at the centre back and has a lining.

What we think: I (Kate) have made this and loved how it came together. It's a slightly more relaxed fit than a classic pencil. I wasn't sure it would suit me so it was a bit of a gamble but I was so pleased with the end result.

Suggested fabrics: Mid-weight woven fabric made of wool or cotton, such as jacquard, gabardine, twill or denim. Pick a fabric that will hold the pleats well. Choose a thin, slippery lining.

Fabric requirements:

Long version, main: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 130 - 175 cm (1.4 - 1.9 yd) // 110 cm (43″) wide fabric: 160 - 190 cm (1.75 - 2 yd).

Short version, main: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 90 - 115 cm (1 - 1.25 yd) // 110 cm (43″) wide fabric: 115 - 135 cm (1.25 - 1.5 yd).

Lining: 140 cm (55″) wide: Long version, 100 cm (40″) // Short version, 70 cm (27.5″).

Sizing: EU 34 – 46 (approx. UK 6 – 16). Please check the size chart.

Notions: Matching thread; fusible interfacing, 60 cm wide x 30 cm (24″ x 12″); one invisible zipper, 20 cm (8″).
