Leisl Cinema Dress

This dress was a joy to make! The instructions were comprehensive and clear; this made a huge difference.

I found the time invested in cutting the pattern pieces and tailoring to my size was well worth it.

I has been searching endlessly for a dress pattern that would translate well into the Indian-style, Kurti I wanted to make.  The Leisl Cinema dress has done this perfectly! The Indian block print cotton was a dream to sew. I plan to complete the whole outfit with wide, leg white palazzo and a chiffon dupatta (long scarf) which I will edge using the fabric I've used for the yoke, hem and cuffs.

I feel that this pattern is so very versatile. My mind is working overtime on the ways I can adapt  elements to make a variety of garments!

Don't you just love it when something turns out just right!
I had admired this dress made up on Instagram but also the pattern photo made me want to make it. It looked so comfortable, stylish and wearable. The pattern is produced by Liesl and Co. I used the paper version and found it easy to use and the directions easy to understand. This relaxed-fit dress pattern features a front and back yoke, V-notch neckline, and back button closure. Both views have easy-to-sew welt pockets and cuffed, three-quarter-length sleeves. I chose to make the dress in lilac chambray. It was a dream to sew and looks and feels lovely to wear.
