Suggested fabrics: Use lightweight woven fabrics without stretch, such as viscose/rayon challis, voile, batiste, broadcloth and chambray. The gathers and ruffles will be more pronounced with crisp fabrics, while they will be less prominent with fabrics that have more drape.

Fabric requirements: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: Shirt, 1 7/8 - 2 7/8 yd (170 - 260 cm) // Dress, 2 1/4 - 3 3/4 yd (220 - 340 cm).

Sizing: US 00 – 40 with regular and full bust options (approx. UK 6/8 – 34/36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

A note from the designer about bust options: To determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full bust front pieces, subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3″ (7.5 cm) or less, use the regular bust. If the rounded difference is more than 3″ (7.5 cm), use the full bust.

Notions: Lightweight fusible woven or weft insertion interfacing; 3/8" (1 cm) no-sew snaps (or buttons), 6 for shirt or 9 for dress; 1/2 yd (0.5 m) of 3/8" (1 cm) wide elastic; a small safety pin.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (50 pages for sizes 00-20, 60 pages for sizes 16-40, but you only need to print the pages for your bust size); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets for sizes 00-20, 4 sheets for sizes 16-40, but you only need to print the sheets for your bust size) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.

Ruffles and Snaps

I made a size 20. My bust is 46.
How about that, it does. This is a lovely medium weight rayon, with good drape. The fabric came from the 100 yards my neighbor gave me. Seriously, I now have too much fabric and will need to donate some.

I have never used an Itch to Stitch pattern. And I enjoyed the instructions. They were not too wordy with drawings to accompany. They were a breeze.  Everything lined up.  The notches, the sides, what a marvelous concept!  It fit straight out of the envelope.  I had fun with snaps, but the snap machine I bought was horrible.  The only change I made to the pattern was to add an extra snap, just below the first one.

I think I will make it again in cotton.  If you love raglan shoulders and ruffles, you’ll have fun with this.
