Buy the Davina Dress sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. You can’t help but feel pretty and elegant in this dress with its curved v-neckline, slightly gathered front, and feminine half-circle skirt. The waistband is designed to sit high for a short waist/long leg look. The optional slash pockets add interest yet are also practical. The pattern includes five sleeve options (sleeveless, short sleeve, medium-short sleeve, three-quarter sleeve and long sleeve) to take you from summer into autumn. Above all, because it uses knit fabric, the Davina Dress is super comfortable!

Suggested fabrics: Use light to medium-light weight knit fabric with at least 75% four-way stretch. Jersey, matte jersey, interlock and very lightweight french terry are great choices. If you use fabric with less stretch, you may choose a larger size. Conversely, if you use fabric with more stretch, you may choose a smaller size. The same fabric is used to line the bodice. However, if your knit fabric is on the heavier side, you may choose to line the bodice with a lighter weight knit fabric. Jersey and tricot are great choices.

Fabric requirements: 60" (150 cm) wide fabric: 1 7/8 - 2 5/8 yd (170 - 240 cm) // 54" (135 cm) wide fabric: 1 7/8 - 3 yd (170 - 280 cm). Please check the fabric requirements chart for specific sizes and sleeve lengths.

Sizing: US 00 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20). Please check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 2 1/2 yd (230 cm) of 3/8" or 1/2" (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide bias fusible stay tape (or make your own using lightweight interfacing).

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; US letter/A4 print-at-home pattern (27 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 long sheet) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.

Absolutely love this pattern! The shape of the bodice is very clever and contours you back well, and the gathering at the front prevents the neckline from gaping.

A great pattern to show off jersey prints and the best bit was the pieces bit on most widths of fabric despite the full skirt.

Pattern called for lined bodice but I just bound the neck and arms with bias - more details on my blog here:

Davina Dress

Inspired by the Sweet Red Poppy's Blog, I decided to sew the Itch to Stitch Davina Dress in a green stretch velvet for a holiday party. Being between two sizes on the size chart, I sized up and made a size 2 - but wish I had sized down (note for anyone reading this) because the dress turned out rather loose. With some careful alterations, I was able to achieve the look I wanted.

Happy Holidays everyone!
