I recently asked for relaxed fit T-shirt recommendations on the Foldline FB Group - after making this T-shirt, I can see why this was popular.

This is my first time making a pattern by Hey June Handmade.  The pdf had a layering option so I could just print off my size.  There were 3 neckline variations (crew neck, scooped neck and V-neck) and an FBA piece was also included.  I opted for the crew neck version which I made in a size L.  I shortened the pattern by 1 inch because I'm only 5ft 0inches and I was trying to squeeze the T-shirt out of an offcut that I had picked up at a fabric swap.

I have made a few T-shirts but I found the instructions clear to follow with good diagrams throughout so this could easily be made by someone starting to sew with knits.

The end result was true size and I am very pleased with this garment.  I think that it will become a TNT in my wardrobe!

I think I've found The One!

Finally, the search for THE t-shirt pattern is over! This one fits PERFECTLY. The shoulder seams sit in exactly the right place, it has the perfect amount of shaping around the waist (while still being loose and comfy) and the hem is just the right amount of curved!

Tonnes of great versions too, if that's your bag. Personally, I'm all about that short-sleeved crew neck!

Edited to add: I've now made six versions of this t-shirt (all short sleeved crew necks) and it continues to be my favourite t-shirt pattern. You can see my other five versions here.

The only changes I have made are to remove approx 2 inches from the lengthen/shorten line (I've tinkered with this over time so can't be sure on the exact amount) and I calculate the neckband length based on the stretch percentage of the fabric every time, rather than using the pattern piece. I've also made a few versions with ringer-style sleeve cuffs, which I really like.

The pictured version is made with Spoonflower fabric (sent to me free of charge by Chimps Tee Party to promote her fabric designs).

Perfect basic tee pattern

My favourite basic tee pattern - the fit is gorgeous, not too tight not too loose, just skims the body. Multiple necklines and sleeve lengths make for a great mix and match situation :)
