Delpy is an easy-to-wear camisole top that is fitted in the bust and looser around the waist and hips. As a dress, it skims over your hips and has a unique rounded corner and slit. Delpy has a bust gather and thin straps with three options for the back - a scoop back (view A), straight straps (view B) and cross straps (view C) - allowing you to customise your top or dress to fit your own personal style.

When the basic is anything but

I came across this pleasingly simple top whilst browsing ‘inst-antlylooseanhourofyourlife-agram.’ I fell for its cool elegant slightly utilitarian look. I made up a size 4, in accordance with my bust measurement. I initially quickly basted the main front and back together to check the fit and saw that I would have to take advantage of the 5/8” seam allowance to give me an extra cm all around. I also could see that the shoulder seam was a long way off the top of the shoulders and so would also need to do what I could within the allowance here. I undid my basted seams and made it up. My daughter was on hand to pin the shoulder seams to the top of my shoulders whilst ensuring the back was completely flat to my back, taking out any little bit of gaping. I’m delighted with it! I love how it completely covers my bra straps and stays in place without any fiddling with throughout the day. The gathering was so easy to do but, so effective. I would say this is an appropriate pattern for an intermediate beginner. Delpy ballet top

I am surprised not to find more reviews of this pattern because I think it's great. The pattern is for a dress or top with three different strap options making 6 variations in total. I made the top with the scoop back which is faced with the straps incorporated into the facing. The straps are wide enough to cover bra straps and the back equally is high enough for bra not to be visible. The garment is finished with french seams and enclosed hems making it a very satisfyingly neat sew. The written instructions are clear and there are excellent illustrations of most of the steps. Sewing the shoulder seams of the straps is a bit fiddly but well explained and the results are good. The fabric requirement for the top is 1.2m and I think that's accurate. I used 1m of fabric but had to piece the front facing to get it out of the metre. 80 cm would be sufficient if you use a separate fabric for the facing though.
