Fabric requirements: You may need to purchase extra yardage if your fabric has a heavy nap, is directional, striped, or has an obvious repeat.

Long sleeve: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 2.2 - 3.3 yd (2 - 3 m) // 54"-60" (137-162 cm) wide fabric: 1.9 - 2.7 yd (1.7 - 2.5 m).

Short sleeve: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 3.1 yd (1.8 - 2.8 m) // 54"-60" (137-162 cm) wide fabric: 1.7 - 2.5 yd (1.6 - 2.3 m).

Sizing: XS – 7X (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This blouse combines classic elements with modern style, making it suitable for various occasions

The Patina pattern with button cuffs and full sleeves is a versatile and elegant addition to my wardrobe.  The v-neck design adds a touch of sophistication to the blouse, making it perfect for both formal and casual wear. It allows me to showcase my favorite necklaces. The buttoned cuffs were similar to men's cuffs and give a subtle decorative element but also provide a stable base to allow the sleeve to balloon.

One of the standout features of this blouse is the full sleeves. These sleeves provide coverage while remaining comfortable. They are great for transitional seasons when you want some extra warmth without the need for a jacket. The fit is flattering and not too tight.

Overall, a timeless piece to my wardrobe.

Great pattern, excellent fit

There were a lot of new things in this for me. Collar, cuffs, plackets, bagged out yoke, never made a blouse before in fact. It was clear to follow, just needed a FBA to get a great fit.

Lovely design, straightforward sew

I’ve come late to this pattern, well after it’s release, but not too late to feel I’ll be making a few more!
I made size Medium, based on finished garment measurements, and needed no fitting modifications. I went for the standard neckline and personally wouldn’t want it any lower so if you’re considering making the lower neckline, it would be a good idea to check the fit first. The neckline measurements are helpfully provided.

The body is long, with a slightly dipped back hem, designed to be tucked in. I wanted to wear mine over trousers so I shortened it by a couple of inches and straightened the hem. I went for the long sleeves with cuffs.

The construction is straightforward and all the pattern pieces come together well. The instructions are thorough and clear. The only thing I thought was slightly strange is that the whole collar has a facing, including at the back neck where there is also a faced back yoke. This means you end up with a facing sewn down on top of the double yoke. Next time I’ll aim to leave out the back neck facing and sandwich the back collar in between the double yoke.
I made mine in viscose which was ideal. More to follow!

First of many - Patina Blouse

I’ve had my eye on this one for a while.

I think I’ve been holding off as I wanted to make a short sleeve version and it has taken a long time for spring to show its colours around here.

It comes with two neckline depth options. I made up the deeper one.

I made a size small in accordance with my bust measurement with no modifications apart for the added sleeve cuff

I made it up in the short sleeve but really disliked how, with the structure of this cotton fabric, the sleeves stood out like sails.

So, I gathered the sleeve into a cuff and am really pleased with the end effect. All the details are in my blog post https://lovelucie.org/2023/04/25/friday-pattern-company-patina-blouse/

Nice simple blouse pattern

The Patina is a lovely pattern - I love the collar detail and how simple it is to put together - it makes hacking pretty simple too.

This is my second version of the Patina, which I hacked into a dress by partially following a tutorial on the Friday Pattern Company website. The instructions on the website were easy to follow, together with the actual pattern instructions. I made the blouse as normal but cut it short after the first two buttons and then added a gathered skirt. I made the skirt from the full 150cm width of fabric and determined the length by standing in front of the mirror and deciding how long I wanted it to be. I then simply sewed the side seams together to create a tube, and added gathering stitches at the top before gathering and attaching to the bodice.

I also left off the sleeve cuff and placket and simply lengthened the sleeve. I made a deep hem on the sleeves, and inserted an extra row of stitching to make an elastic channel to achieve that puffy cuff look.

It's a fab pattern with great details and good instructions - if you're thinking about it, I'd say go for it!
