Buy the 303 English Cottage Kitchen Set sewing pattern from Folkwear. English cottage kitchens in the Victorian era combined the technology of the Industrial Revolution with the latest frivolities popularised by ladies’ homemaking magazines.
Patterns are included for a complete set of kitchen linens: a pinafore/apron for women and children, biscuit cosy, tea cosy, egg cosy, placemats, napkins, tea towels, and oven mitt. Optional embellishments include cross-stitch embroidery, quilting, tatted lace edging, and stencilling.
The pretty ruffled pinafore/apron epitomises fanciful Victorian taste and charm. The front and skirt gather into a waistband, and wide ruffles are gathered into shoulder straps which cross in the back and button at the waist. The skirt of the pinafore version has a buttoned back opening. The apron has an open back and is finished with a sash.
