Buy the 217 Unisex Poet's Shirt sewing pattern from Folkwear. This romantic shirt dates from the 1820s, when poets such as Byron, Shelley, and Keats wore their collars open in defiance of conventional fashion. This easy-sew garment is equally poetic for men and women and can be made with plain or ruffled collar and cuffs. The pattern includes historical lore and instructions for authentic detailing.

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight, soft or crisp shirting or blouse-weight fabrics such as cotton, linen, silk, or blends, in challis, crepe, batiste, broadcloth, homespun, or satin // Cravat: Soft, lightweight cottons, silks, or blends // Note: The Poet’s Shirt is not suitable for fabrics with nap, pile, or one-way design.

Fabric requirements:

36" (91 cm) wide fabric: View A Unruffled, 2 7/8 - 3 1/8 yd (2.63 - 2.86 m) // View B Ruffled, 3 1/8 - 3 3/8 yd (2.86 - 3.09 m).

45" (115 cm) wide fabric: View A Unruffled, 2 - 3 1/8 yd (1.83 - 2.86 m) // View B Ruffled, 2 1/4 - 3 3/8 yd (2.05 - 3.09 m).

Cravat: 1 - 1 1/4 yd (0.95 - 1.14 m).

Sizing: Women's S-M-L and Men's S-M-L. Please check the size chart.

Notions: Thread; two 3/8" (1 cm) buttons for cuffs.

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; print-at-home pattern; copy shop file (suitable for 36" wide or A0 printers).
