Buy the Mindy Dress sewing pattern from Fibre Mood. There are statement sleeves and there are statement sleeves. Mindy definitely falls into the latter category. This Balkan inspired dress with a gorgeous square neckline (another super trend!) is destined to be a hit! Love the big sleeves, but not wild about the puffy effect? Leave out the elastic in the sleeve hem and you'll have fluttery butterfly sleeves. Mindy is neatly fitted at the bust, with an A-line skirt that slightly flares.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Mindy should be made in a fabric with a bit of body, such as cotton, jacquard weave, brocade, broderie anglaise, etc. Solids, prints and subtle textures all work. Want to bring out the ultra romantic side of this dress? Make it in white! Do you prefer butterfly sleeves to puffed sleeves? Then go for a fabric with a fluid drape.

Fabric requirements: 110 cm wide fabric: 230 - 295 cm // 140 cm wide fabric: 175 - 290 cm.

Sizing: EU 32 – 58 / US 0 – 26 / UK 4 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 26/28, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Thread; iron-on interfacing, max. 20 cm; invisible zip, 20 cm; 0.5 cm wide elastic, 61 - 82 cm.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (25 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets); projector pattern.

Note: Seam allowances are included in this pattern. The copy shop file we print for you shows the cutting lines only (not cutting lines and stitching lines) to make it easier to know what size to cut out.

Such a lovely dress

I usually buy fabric with a pattern in mind these days but I totally didn’t with this, I loved it soon as I seen it and bought it back in April, from Sistermintaka.

Fibre mood Mindy has been on my radar for a while and I honestly thought I would only have enough fabric to make a top version. So I was amazed to manage to squeeze the dress. I felt it was to short or me so I added the frill (after needing to buy more fabric) at the end. It was a relatively easy sew, I have only given the pattern 4 stars as the neckline is more advance to do but I found out after my sewing friend @sosewdressmaking has a sew along helping you every step of the way.

A Mindy Maxi Dress from Fibre Mood

The details that I love about the Mindy Dress are the square neckline and the puffed sleeves. Even though sewing these to the bodice was a struggle for me, the end result was worth the mind boggle. The dress is really pretty in a romantic billowy way, and is perfect as a summer outfit. I sewed up a size 8 based on the finished garment measurements, but I really should have gone for the size 6 for my 81cm bust.

I converted the dress to a maxi to match my daughter's Fibre Mood Poppy dress by simply adding another gathered tier at the bottom of the dress.
