Suggested fabrics: The Filippa Dress is the perfect cotton dress. The fabric can be a bit stiffer because this creates a lovely effect at the sleeves. Opt for trendy linen for a summery look.

Add a belt and it’s perfect.

I wanted a lightweight baggy style dress for print and summer and I love the stylings of Fibre Mood patterns so I was really drawn to this one.

It sewed really nicely, the instructions were good and it was a pretty straightforward construction. However, when I tried it on I hated it. I hated the balance of the short sleeves with the potato stack fitting of the dress, it looked so unflattering and honestly made me feel awful.

I really didn’t want to give up on it though, so I decided to give it one last chance and cut a belt out of the same fabric. It’s crazy how one little tweak can change so much, but with the new addition I was obsessed, it quickly became one of my favourite and most work items of clothing. I will be making more on the future, although I will lengthen it a bit as the belt does make it ride up a little. But I will also be cutting out a belt with any future ones because it’s mad how much it elevates the dress.
