Buy the Emilia Dress sewing pattern from Fibre Mood. The Emilia Dress is a fun and flirty shirt dress with a standing collar and classic pussy bow. It sits at calf-length with subtle pleats at the front and back. Make Emilia up in a luxurious silk for the festive season, or go casual with cotton for everyday. Style it loose and relaxed, or cinched in at the waist with the elasticated ribbon tie.

Suggested fabrics: If you're on a quest for the perfect party dress, make Emilia in a luxurious fabric with a fluid drape like crepe or satin. Turn the 'demure' bow into something flirtatious with a busy print (think floral or 'snakeskin'). To make a real statement, choose a cotton fabric with body and omit the casing and tie. Options galore!

Fabric requirements: 140 cm wide fabric: 255 - 405 cm.

Sizing: EU 32 – 58 / US 0 – 26 / UK 4 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 26/28, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Thread; iron-on interfacing, max. 50 cm; 12 buttons, 1.1 cm diameter; 0.5 cm wide elastic, 51 - 112 cm.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step illustrated instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (49 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets).

Note: Seam allowances are included in this pattern. The copy shop file we print for you shows the cutting lines only (not cutting lines and stitching lines) to make it easier to know what size to cut out.

Love this dress, and just wanted to share what I did for the benefit of any other taller people with longer arms and broad square shoulders. I'm only 171 but with broad shoulders and an average to small bust, I have had so many problems trying to find a dress shape that suits me. Finally, I found this one.  I added 2cm on the back of the yoke, 1cm to the front, to keep my torso looking compact. Added  3 cm to the sleeves and 7cm to the length. I also raised the level of the waist to almost an empire line and used elastic instead of a tie. Oh and to make it a real work dress I added pockets big enough for keys, pens, phone etc.. a bit lower down on the hip, so the extra volume would remain hidden.  I used a medium-weight wool flannel which was a bit of a gamble as the pattern talks about light and drapey....  but I'm glad I experimented.  It was really easy to sew up, and I'm pleased to finally have a new work dress.
