Bobbins and Buttons Millie Dress and Top

Buy the Millie Dress and Top sewing pattern from Bobbins and Buttons. Millie is a knee-length shift dress with wide straps and a fitted band above the bust. It is loose around the waist with an A-line silhouette. Large curved patch pockets are sewn into the side seams. The dress is fastened at the back with an invisible zip. The top is a shortened version of the dress. It has side vents and is finished with a hem facing that can be stitched internally or externally. You can also make a tiered maxi dress with a gathered upper bodice, fitted to the same band as the other styles, and three gathered tiers.

Tiered dress: Woven viscose, double gauze, lyocell, lightweight cotton such as lawn or voile.

Shift dress and top: Woven fabrics including cotton poplin, broadcloth, chambray, medium weight linen and cotton blends.

Fabric requirements: 

Tiered dress: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 2.7 - 3.4 m (2.9 - 3.7 yd) // 112 cm (45″) wide fabric: 3.6 - 4.5 m (3.9 - 4.9 yd).

Shift dress: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1.7 m (1.85 yd) // 112 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.25 - 2.65 m (2.4 - 2.9 yd).

Top: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1.1 m (1.2 yd) // 112 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.4 - 1.6 m (1.5 - 1.75 yd).

Sizing: UK 6 – 22 (approx. UK 6 – 18/20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Fusible interfacing (optional); invisible zip: 26 cm (10") for tiered dress and top, 51 cm (20") for shift dress.
