Buy the Whitechapel Pyjamas sewing pattern from Alice & Co Patterns. The Whitechapel Pyjamas have a boxy style shirt with a button front. The trousers are comfy but not baggy with a slightly tapered leg and an elasticated waist. Room to curl up but sleek enough to wear to a pyjama party. The sleeve and leg lengths are designed to be slightly cropped, sitting just on the wrist, and above the ankle, but both are easy to lengthen.

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: One of the pattern pieces is divided across two A0 sheets. The two sheets will need to be joined with no overlap.
Suggested fabrics: Classic crisp cotton shirting in stripes or checks, a bold and audacious print on cotton sateen, soft brushed cotton, a snazzy paisley silk – the list goes on and on...You’ll want several pairs of these, some for sleeping and some for partying!
Fabric requirements: 140 cm (55") wide fabric: Sizes 6 - 14, 3 m (3 1/3 yd) // Sizes 16 - 22, 3.9 m (4 1/4 yd).
Sizing: UK 6 – 22. Please check the size chart.
Notions: Lightweight interfacing, 2 strips approx. 60 cm x 5 cm (24" x 2") wide + 1 piece 50 cm x 20 cm (20" x 8") for the collar; 3 cm (1 1/4") wide elastic (enough to go around your waist with 2 cm/1" overlap); 5 buttons (+ 1 for spare!).
PDF pattern includes: Instructions (A4 and US letter formats); A4 print-at-home pattern (49 pages); US letter print-at-home pattern (50 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (4 sheets). Note: You must print this pattern in colour.

A brilliant pj pattern for many reasons: tapered leg, French seams throughout, no piping, modern collar, clear coloured lines for easy tracing.
I cut with double fabric for speed despite their instructions.
And made some small modifications:
Added a pocket to the front top
Lengthened the top - I'm short but didn't fancy a cropped fit
Added tapered turn-ups to sleeves and trousers for interest (and challenge!)
Finished the collar and neck seam with white bias binding.
Linen look designer shirting from Fabworks, and Cotton Sateen in my stash for a second pair.
Lovely to sew, lovely to wear.

I eventually made these snowmen pyjamas. The fabric was crepe and tricky to handle because the seam allowances are tiny and they are French seams. So next time I might add a bit on. Otherwise, I love these and the instructions are easy to follow.

I needed some cosy new pyjamas to help brighten up dark winter evenings, and these definitely do that!
There were lots of things that I really liked about this pattern. The trousers are made from just one pattern piece - the legs are cut from one pattern piece rather than the front and back being cut separately, which makes them even quicker to sew than most PJ trousers. I liked the fact that the pattern uses French seams throughout (and gives instructions on how to do them if you've never used French seams before). The sleeves of the shirt are also inserted flat, which is easier than setting in sleeves and mean you can use French seams there easily too.
The sizing is accurate - I used the size recommended for my measurements and the pyjamas fit with enough ease to be comfy without being too baggy.
I gave the pattern 4 stars rather than 5 because there were a couple of things that didn't seem quite right in the instructions - they don't seem to tell you how far to press under at the centre front to form the self facing (although it's fairly easy to work out from the shape of the pattern piece) and the instructions about the size of the interfacing seem a bit off to me.
