Buy the Willa Wrap Coat sewing pattern from Jennifer Lauren Handmade. Willa mixes style with absolute comfort and warmth. It's a blanket in disguise, with just the right amount of tailoring to look effortlessly put together. The dramatic wide collar design is perfect for an evening out, or button Willa at the top for a cosy funnel-neck style collar to keep the cold at bay.
Semi-fitted through the back and shoulders for a sleek silhouette when viewed from behind, Willa is deceptively easy to fit around the front due to the easy wrap-style, darted front princess seam and multiple bust cups. Willa sports patch pockets to carry all of your essentials and belt loops to keep your belt where it should be, perfectly cinched at the waist. With enough ease to make light layering underneath easy and stress free, Willa is fully lined and is designed to cover and sit just below your bum. All buttons/closures are optional – Willa looks equally lovely left completely open at the front.
Note: An expansion pack (sold separately) is available for the Willa Wrap Coat. Use the Willa Wrap Coat Hood Expansion Pack to add the cosy comfort and practicality of a hood to your Willa Wrap Coat.
This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:
– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?
– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?
Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some pattern pieces may be divided across two A0 sheets. You will need to join the sheets at the indicated lines.
Suggested fabrics: The Willa Wrap Coat is suitable for mid-weight woven fabrics with body and some drape. Melton, boucle, herringbone and tweed, suitings, corduroy and light quilted fabrics would make a lovely coat. The lining should be light weight - cotton voile or lawn, rayon, polyester or silk linings work best to keep bulky seams to a minimum.
Fabric requirements: Extra may be required for pattern/print matching or adding length.
Main: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 3.25 - 3.75 m (3.55 - 4.1 yd) // 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 4 - 5 m (4.37 - 5.46 yd) // Note for sizes 26 - 34 in 115 cm (45") wide fabric: Not suitable for fabric with obvious directional print/nap/texture due to belt length and how this is positioned on the fabric.
Lining: 150 cm (60") wide fabric: 1.75 - 2.5 m (1.91 - 2.73 yd) // 115 cm (45") wide fabric: 2.25 - 3.25 m (2.46 - 3.55 yd).
Sizing: UK 6 – 24 with A/B and C/D cups or UK 16 – 34 with C/D and E/F cups. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.
Note: There is a crossover of 2 cups (C and D) and 5 sizes (16 – 24) between the Original and Curve size ranges. The Original and Curve patterns are based on two different blocks, and because of this, the shape, ease and proportions of the crossover patterns vary depending on the block used. Please check both size charts if you fall into this range.
To determine your cup size, wear supportive undergarments, then keeping your tape measure parallel to the floor (make sure it is not dipping at the back), measure both your full bust (the widest part of your bust, all the way around) and your high bust (the upper part of your bust around and under the arm pits). Use the difference between these measurements to determine your approximate cup size: A cup = 1 cm (3/8″), B cup = 3 cm (1 1/4″), C cup = 5 cm (2″), D cup = 7.5 cm (3″), E cup = 10 cm (4″), F cup = 12.5 cm (4 7/8″). Then, to determine your bodice size, find your full bust measurement (or closest to) along your corresponding cup row on the size chart.
Notions: Light- to mid-weight fusible interfacing; matching and/or contrast thread // Optional: Two 2 cm (3/4") wide buttons (or snap buttons). Some sort of fastening is required to make the funnel-neck style.
PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (94 pages for sizes 6-24, 103 pages for sizes 16-34, but you only need to print the pages for your cup size); A0 copy shop pattern (5 sheets per cup size for sizes 6-24, 5 sheets per cup size for sizes 16-34). This pattern has the layers function so you can select your size(s) before printing.
