Buy the Terra Dress sewing pattern from Vivian Shao Chen. This easy-wearing shirt dress has a front button placket, collar stand and fall. The sleeves are slightly dropped. The pattern includes two views. View A has a more romantic silhouette and detailing, while View B has a more structured straight line silhouette. The bodices and sleeves of both views are interchangeable. If you choose, you may use the sleeve design of View A with the bodice design of View B, and vice versa.

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: The Terra Dress pattern is designed for midweight wovens (5-6 oz/yd²) and lightweight wovens (3-4 oz/yd²). You may use any fibre, keeping in mind that each will produce different draping effects. The samples shown in the photographs are sewn with 100% linen.

Fabric requirements: 

View A: 45″ (114 cm) wide fabric: 3 3/4 – 4 1/4 yd (3.4 – 3.9 m) // 60″ (152 cm) wide fabric: 3 – 3 5/8 yd (2.75 – 3.3 m).

View B: 45″ (114 cm) wide fabric: 3 – 3 5/8 yd (2.75 – 3.3 m) // 60″ (152 cm) wide fabric: 2 – 2 7/8 yd (1.9 – 2.6 m).

Sizing: XS – 3XL (approx. UK 8/10 – 16/18, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 2 3/8 yd (2.2 m) of interfacing; approx. sixteen 3/8″-1/2″ (10-12.7 mm) buttons for front placket // View A only: eight buttons for sleeve cuffs (same size as for front placket or slightly smaller).
