Buy the Bisque Trousers sewing pattern from Vivian Shao Chen. These elasticated waist trousers feature deep front pleats, slant pockets, and darts at the back. They have a high waist, slightly dropped crotch, loose legs, and a slightly cropped ankle length. The silhouette is relaxed yet structured due to the lines created by the front pleats and pockets.

The pattern includes three views. View A has a tapered leg. View B has a wide leg. View C is shorts length. Back pockets are optional for all views.

Suggested fabrics: The Bisque Trousers pattern is designed for woven fabrics. It works well for a wide range of fabric weights. Choose a lightweight fabric (3-4 oz/yd²) for a breezy summer pant. Choose a medium weight fabric (5-7 oz/yd²) for an everyday pant. Choose a heavyweight fabric (8-10 oz/yd²) for a sturdy utility pair that will hold the structured lines of the pleats and wear well with age.

Fabric requirements: Note you may need more yardage if you are working with graphic prints and wish to pattern match. You will need more yardage if you choose to lengthen the trousers.

Views A and B: 54″ (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 – 3 yd (2.3 – 2.7 m) // 45″ (114 cm) wide fabric: 3 – 3.5 yd (2.7 – 3.2 m).

View C: 54″ (137 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 – 2 yd (1.4 – 1.8 m) // 45″ (114 cm) wide fabric: 2 yd (1.8 m).

If using a heavyweight fabric (8 oz/yd² or heavier), lining is required for the pockets to reduce bulk at the waistband. 0.5 yd (0.45 m) of lining fabric (minimum 45″/114 cm wide) is required for all sizes.

Sizing: US 00 – 24 (approx. UK 6 – 24, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 2″ wide elastic for waistband (non-roll or heavy duty elastic is recommended).
