Suggested fabrics: This pattern is designed for swimsuit knits with a high amount of stretch (50-60%). Fabric with lycra or spandex will hold up the best. If you’re using the suit for swimming, you'll want to avoid fibres that hold a lot of water (cotton). You can line your bottoms with swimsuit lining or the same fabric you are using for the rest of your suit. If you are not using swimsuit lining, add the lining requirement to the main fabric requirement.

Fabric requirements:

XS - M: 45" wide fabric: 1.3 yd (1.2 m) // 54"-60" wide fabric: 1 yd (0.9 m).

L - XXL: 45" wide fabric: 1.5 yd (1.4 m) // 54"-60" wide fabric: 1.13 yd (1 m).

1X - 4X: 45" wide fabric: 2 1/8 yd (1.9 m) // 54"-60" wide fabric: 1 2/3 yd (1.5 m).

Lining (45"-60" wide fabric): XS - XXL, 0.5 yd (0.55 m) // 1X - 4X, 5/8 yd (0.6 m).

Sizing: XS - 4X (approx. UK 6 - 28). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 4 yd of 1/4" wide elastic; stretch sewing machine needle // Optional: 1-2 yd of 3/4" wide elastic (if you want to add elastic to the waistbands on the top and bottom); soft foam cups (if you want a little more coverage); power mesh to go between the layers of fabric for added support (you’ll need about a yard if you’re lining the whole suit).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; print-at-home pattern (16 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet).

Queenie x Vernazza swimsuit

I did make the top and the bottoms of this pattern however I only kept the bottoms. The top was too small, my fault mostly because I found that a lot of makes were too big and winkling around the straps. So I tought I should size down but I made 2 sizes down and it was too much. The bottoms are mosly OK but with a bit too much fabric at the back due to my sway back I guess.

Anyway, after that, I decided to make my swimsuit's top with the hacked Queenie bralette.

The pattern is OK but I'm not too sure about sizing. I was also more comfortable with the explanations from Evie La Luve than Friday Pattern, even if they are OK too.

Vernazza Two Piece Bikini review

This was the first swimsuit I ever made and hence was super nervous about how this would turn out. Luckily for me the instructions are super comprehensive and the video on elastic insertion made the whole process a lot less scary than I thought it would be.
I've written about all the details and included more photos on the blog - http://www.knotsewgranny.com/sewing/vernazza-two-piece/
