Buy the Trina Dress and Blouse sewing pattern from Victory Patterns. Trina is a classic wrap dress and top that features gathers above the bust and a cross-over front bodice that creates a deep V-neckline. The raglan sleeve transitions into a boxy, flowing shape. At the sides, the bodice front overlaps the back, allowing the tie to exit and wrap around the natural waist.
Version 1: Create a tunic with the hemline ending just below the hip. The tie in this version is made with a contrasting fabric.
Version 2: Create a dress with a hemline ending just below the knee. You may choose to line the skirt portion of this dress.

Suggested fabrics:
Main and Contrast: Light to mid-weight fabric with soft drape, such as double gauze, voile, chiffon, georgette, charmeuse, crepe de chine, rayon challis.
Lining: Compatible with fabric, such as bemberg or acetate lining.
Fabric requirements: Purchase additional fabric if lengthening your garment or using fabric with nap, directional print, stripes or plaids.
Version 1: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2 1/4 - 3 1/4 yd (2 - 2.9 m) // 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 2 3/4 - 3 5/8 yd (2.5 - 3.3 m) // Contrast (either width): 1 yd (1 m).
Version 2: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 4 1/4 - 5 yd (4 - 4.6 m) // 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 5 - 6 1/2 yd (4.6 - 5.9 m) // Optional lining (54"/137 cm wide fabric): 2 yd (2 m).
Sizing: 2 - 16 (approx. UK 6 - 18). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.
Notions: 1/4 yd/m of lightweight fusible interfacing.

The main reason I made this dress is the Fold Line's Wish List! I put it on there ages ago because I loved the style but didn't really have an occasion.
Turning 40 provided the occasion & Brenda the printer quickly provided the pattern!
I used a viscose that has the weight of a crepe for my dress.
I made very few modifications, which isn't what I anticipated with a wrap dress. My toile came up quite roomy so I sized down, I cut the skirt length at the lining length (I'm 5'2") and shortened the sleeves by 3".
The bodice construction fascinated me with the front overlapping the back, which creates a hidden gap to pass the wrap tie out of!

I love this dress so much! It's possibly the coolest dress I've ever made yet. The pattern was very simple and easy to fit. I used an olive green silk satin from Tessuti Fabrics so it took me all weekend to carefully cut out, pin everything and bind or french seam all the raw edges but I think it was worth it. I finished the hems by hand too. I was worried about the look of the bodice until I attached it to the skirt. It's a hard one to visualise as you're making it. My advice would be to slow down, read the instructions carefully and have faith in the pattern because it comes together beautifully right at the end.

I love this dress! I made it for a friend because I figured the wrap style would mean we didn't have to be too precise about fitting, as the ties make it adjustable in wearing. I made a couple of small adjustments, shortening the sleeves and shortening and slightly narrowing the skirt.
It's quite an easy make, although be prepared to deal with a lot of shifty fabric swishing all over the place! The instructions are also a bit wordy so need patience to untangle, but are comprehensive.
