Buy the Potters Jacket sewing pattern from The Modern Sewing Co. The Potters Jacket is designed to be useful all year round. The cut is neat and smart with a two-piece sleeve, simple collar and two pocket options: welt pockets or gusset pockets. The pattern is fitted on the shoulders with a subtle A-line shape from the bust down and comes in two lengths to accommodate those who want a longer, more substantial feeling jacket.

It works in a huge range of fabrics to give you a completely different garment depending on your choice of material. For winter you could make it in wool or waxed cotton. Summer options include heavy linen or denim, which could be left unlined.

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). You will receive all 7 A0 sheets to include both lengths. What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Wool, waxed cotton, denim, gabardine, twill, heavy linen.

Fabric requirements: 

Self (shorter length): 150 cm wide fabric: 180 – 230 cm // 110 cm wide fabric: 235 – 315 cm.

Self (longer length): 150 cm wide fabric: 195 – 250 cm // 110 cm wide fabric: 265 – 345 cm.

Optional lining (shorter length): 150 cm wide fabric: 135 – 160 cm // 110 cm wide fabric: 170 – 220 cm.

Optional lining (longer length): 150 cm wide fabric: 150 – 190 cm // 110 cm wide fabric: 195 – 245 cm.

Sizing: UK 4 – 28 (approx. UK 4/6 – 26, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for a height of 5’8″ and a cup size ‘C’.

Notions: 5 buttons, roughly 2-3 cm diameter; 60 cm of iron-on fusing in a weight to suit your fabric.
