Buy the Picnic Dress sewing pattern from TAUKO. The Picnic Dress by Mila Moisio has an angular hem with large pockets and a fitted bodice, creating an articulated, fun, and sculptural silhouette. Two different necklines (round and boat neck) allow you to vary the style. The round neckline gives the bodice a classy and elegant finish, while the boat neckline is more spacious and works best if you make the version with sleeves. Yes, the sleeves! The pleated, puffy sleeves are a wonderful counterpart to the voluminous hem. Whether you choose to add the sleeves or not, this dress is sure to be an eye-catcher at your next summer party.

Designer: Mila Moisio is the co-founder of TAUKO Magazine and lives on the seventh floor of an apartment building in Berlin. She loves early mornings, long breakfasts, reading, and biking in the different neighbourhoods of her current hometown. The diverse styles and ways of being in Berlin offer an endless source of inspiration for her designs.

This pattern is also available in TAUKO Magazine Issue No. 7.

Suggested fabricsThe Picnic Dress works best in medium-weight woven fabrics. A cotton fabric with some stiffness, such as poplin, is lovely for this piece as it can hold its sculptural shape. The dark brown sample dress is made from stretch cotton poplin (98% cotton + 2% elastane, 105 gsm/3.1 oz.) and the ecru sample is made from a viscose/cotton twill (64% viscose + 36% cotton, 175 gsm/5.16 oz.).
