Buy the Xanthe Skirt sewing pattern from Sew Over It. Xanthe has all the features of a classic denim skirt, plus some extra Sew Over It touches!

Featuring a zip fly, waistband, belt loops and shaped back yoke, Xanthe is fitted at the waist and hips, with a straight fit on the legs. Choose between two lengths: a mini skirt, or a midi skirt with a stylish front slit for ease of movement. Xanthe has patch pockets at the back and cool inset pockets at the front with an ingenious construction method technical sewists will love! Designed with denim in mind, the instructions will guide you through all the steps for sewing with contrast topstitching, but you can also topstitch using regular thread for a more subtle look.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing for sizes 18-30: The pattern piece for the waistband has been split (to fit on the A0 sheet) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: Medium weight woven fabrics such as non-stretch denim, corduroy and twill. You can use stretch denim but it will require more fitting and you may need to go down a size.

Fabric requirements: The fabric requirements include only 10 cm buffer to avoid fabric wastage.

Sizes 6 – 20

V1: 1.15 m wide fabric: 1.9 m // 1.40 m wide fabric: 1.4 - 1.8 m.

V2: 1.15 m wide fabric: 1.6 m // 1.40 m wide fabric: 1.1 - 1.5 m.

Sizes 18 – 30

V1: 1.15 m wide fabric*: 2.3 m // 1.40 m wide fabric: 1.9 m.

V2: 1.15 m wide fabric*: 1.8 m // 1.40 m wide fabric: 1.5 m.

* The waistband piece does not fit on 115 cm wide fabric for this size range. If you need to use narrow fabric, divide the waistband into smaller sections. Remember to add 1.5 cm seam allowance to each side at every divide line before you cut. Once sewn together, double check it matches the original waistband length for your size.

Sizing: UK 6 – 20 and UK 18 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 20 and UK 20 – 32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size charts and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 0.5 m interfacing; one 17 mm button; one regular 7" zip; topstitching thread and matching regular thread.
