Buy the L’Oeuf Bag sewing pattern from Sew Liberated. A whimsically egg-shaped crossbody bag, L’Oeuf will take your outfits up a notch with standout style and practical details.

This little bag fits more than you would imagine. With two exterior pockets and one interior pocket, it has lots of room for all your must-carry items, from your wallet, phone and keys, to a handful of dog treats, multiple lip balms, and if you really wanted, up to six actual eggs (though we wouldn’t recommend that!).

The L’Oeuf Bag is fully lined and has an easy-to-access main compartment with a double zipper pull, as well as a zipped back pocket. The front seams enclose an outer pocket with a faced edge. There is also a pocket in the lining, and the interior is finished with bias binding. Adjust the webbing strap to your ideal length to comfortably wear the bag high or low on the body.

Suggested fabrics:

Main: Medium to heavy weight woven fabric that has no stretch. Choose a stable fabric like canvas, denim, or twill. Recommended fabrics are sturdy, opaque, and range in weight from 10 to 12 oz. (340 to 400 gsm). If you want to use a fabric that is lighter than 10 oz. (340 gsm), it’s recommended that you interface all the main pieces.

Lining: Fabric that is stable and easy to handle. Excellent options are cotton lawn, a stable cotton like shirting, or quilting cotton. Don’t choose a bulkier fabric like flannel or it will be difficult to sew through the multiple layers.

Fabric requirements: 

45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: Main, 0.5 yd (0.4 m) // Lining, 0.5 yd (0.4 m).

54″ (137 cm) wide fabric: Main, 0.4 yd (0.4 m) // Lining, 0.4 yd (0.3 m).

Sizing: Finished bag measurements: H 10″ x W 8″ x D 2″ (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm x 5.1 cm) // Finished strap length: adjustable from 32″ to 64″ (81.3 cm to 162.6 cm).
