Buy the Salida Skirt sewing pattern from True Bias. Salida is a skirt with two views. Each has a soft V-shaped yoke at the front and back, a high waist and a front zipper fly. View A is a fitted, panelled skirt that hits at the top of the knee and features a back slit for easy walking. View B is a mid-calf length panelled skirt that flares out at the bottom.

Main fabric: Medium weight woven fabrics such as denim, twill, corduroy, linen and chambray.
Pocket lining fabric: Lightweight woven fabric such as rayon bemberg, cotton voile or other standard lining fabrics.
Fabric requirements: Extra fabric may be needed to match stripes or plaids or for directional prints.

View B: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 3.4 - 3.5 yd (3.1 - 3.2 m) // 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 2.7 yd (2.3 - 2.5 m).
Lining: 1/2 yd (0.5 m).

Lining: 1/2 yd (0.5 m).
Sizing: US 0 - 18 or US 14 - 32 (approx. UK 6/8 – 18/20 or UK 16 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size charts and finished garment measurements.
Note: The size ranges have been drafted from different blocks. The 14 – 32 block has a 1″ larger difference between the waist and hip circumference. Both size ranges are drafted for an average height of 5'5″.
Notions: Coordinating thread; fusible interfacing, 1.5 yd (sizes 0-18) or 2 yd (sizes 14-32); zipper, sizes 0-4 = 5", sizes 6-10 = 6", sizes 12-22 = 7", sizes 24-32 = 8"; one sew-on 5/8" hook and eye closure.

This skirt is the perfect Autumn staple! It suits heavier weight fabrics such as corduroy (which I've used here) and denim. It's more suitable for an intermediate sewer because there is a zip fly and a kick pleat which could be tricky if you were a complete beginner but if you fancy a challenge then by all means!
It was fun to piece together the different panels and I love the topstitching, I think it gives a really professional finish.
The main challenge you may have with this pattern is the fit, unless your body shape fits the measurements on the pattern you might have to do a bit of adjusting. I have a curvy shape where my hips are proportionally much wider than my waist so I had to think quite carefully about how I cut the pattern to ensure I was accomodating my hips whilst still achieving a fitted silhouette at my waist. In the end I chose the larger size for my hips and then once I'd sewn the side seams I tried it on and took them in at the waist. So quite simple in the end!

This is overall a good pattern but it is missing a, to me, key element. There are no CF marking on skirt or waistband which causes problems with the zip fly and even more with the waistband. I have made a blog post that elaborate much more. Plus I'm also talking a lot about the best way to do the fitting of this style if your hips and waist are different size.
