Buy the 128 Russian Settlers’ Dress sewing pattern from Folkwear. This complete ensemble from Old Russia includes a jumper/pinafore or sundress (serafan), blouse (rukava), and apron (zapon).

The loose, full dress is gathered into a band that fits snugly around the body just above the bust. The garment hangs from shoulder straps that join at the centre back. The sleeves and body of the hip-length blouse are gathered into a narrow neckband. The apron ties at the waist. The bib, skirt and flounce of the apron are pleated in place, and a narrow ribbon ties behind the neck.

Wear the serafan by itself as a sundress, or combine it with the other pieces for a variety of looks. The pattern includes historical information about Russian peasant costume and instructions for traditional punch needle embroidery.
