Buy the No. 4 London Coat sewing pattern from How to Do Fashion. This swagger coat and jacket comes in three versions with different lengths, collars and pockets.

Version 1 is a long coat with a round tipped collar and patch pockets attached with a 3-step zigzag. The coat is fully lined, and the edge is finished with a knitted fold over trim.

Version 2 is a long jacket without a collar. It is finished with a facing in the neckline. It has a belt and no lining.

Version 3 is a short jacket with a tie collar. It has pockets placed in the front seams and pocket flaps. Only the sleeves are lined.

Suggested fabrics: Medium to heavy weight woven fabric. Wool, linen or heavy silk. The final look of the garment will depend on the type of fabric you choose. Not suitable for jersey.

Version 1: 140 cm wide fabric: XS-M, 3.5 m; L-XL, 4.25 m // Lining: same amount as main fabric

Version 2: 110 cm wide fabric: 3.5 m // 140 cm wide fabric: XS-M, 2.5 m; L-XL, 3.25 m

Version 3: 110 cm wide fabric: 3.5 m // 140 cm wide fabric: XS-M, 2.5 m; L-XL, 3.25 m // Lining: 1.25 m

Sizing: XS – XL (approx. UK 8 – 20). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Thread // Version 1: 25 cm interfacing; 1 big button; 2 snaps; 7 m knitted fold-over trim for the edges (or you can omit the trim and turn and sew all edges) // Version 2: 15 cm interfacing (or 50 cm if you want to make hem facing) // Version 3: 1 m interfacing; 4 buttons; 3 m bias binding.
