Buy the Nellie Joggers and Shorts sewing pattern from Pattern Scout. These high rise utility-style joggers or shorts feature a fly front closure, patch pockets, and an athleisure-inspired ‘racing stripe’ along the side leg. With flat front and back elastic facing waistbands, these pants offer a sophisticated spin on a classic, comfy style. You can dress them up with heels and a nice blouse or dress them down with a tee and sneakers.

Version A is an ankle length pant with an elasticised leg opening. Version B is a shorts style with a 5″ (13 cm) inseam.

Suggested fabrics: Medium weight woven fabrics. For a more structured pant, use fabrics like linen or chambray. For a more fluid drape, use fabrics like tencel twill, viscose blends or rayon.

Fabric requirements: If using a directional print or pattern matching (with stripes, plaids, etc.), additional fabric may be required.

Version A (joggers): 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 2 1/2 – 3 1/4 yd (2.3 – 2.9 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 2 – 2 3/4 yd (1.8 – 2.5 m).

Version B (shorts): 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/2 – 2 yd (1.4 – 1.8 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/4 – 1 3/4 yd (1.1 – 1.6 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 30). Please check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Approx. 1 yd (1 m) of 20″ wide fusible interfacing; 2 sew-on hook and bar closure sets; 1 nylon or metal lightweight zipper (#3); 2″ (5 cm) wide elastic.
