Buy the Morningside Dress and Shirt sewing pattern from French Navy. The ultimate in effortless boy-meets-girl cool, the Morningside pattern offers both dress and shirt styles with two sleeve variations. All views feature a narrow collar, concealed placket and slightly dropped shoulders. Choose the classic cuffed sleeve for a versatile wardrobe workhorse or the flounced sleeve for a more whimsical silhouette. Both dresses have a roomy fit, in-seam pockets and a curved high-low hemline. The shirt too has a boxy cut and is the perfect pairing for your favourite high-waisted pants.

Suggested fabrics: 

Style A (cuffed sleeve): Light to medium weight wovens, with or without drape. Chambray, linen, poplin, shirting, tencel, rayon challis or rayon blends will all work well.

Style B (flounced sleeve): Drapier fabrics like rayon blends, cotton lawn, tencel, rayon challis, or lightweight linen blends are better suited to this style shirt and dress. Fabric with drape is recommended.

Fabric requirements: Extra fabric may be required for checked fabric or fabric with a directional print.

Dress: Style A: 150 cm (59″) wide fabric: 1.95 – 2.05 m (2.1 – 2.25 yd) / 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.7 – 2.9 m (3 – 3.1 yd) // Style B: 150 cm (59″) wide fabric: 1.96 – 2 m (2.1 – 2.2 yd) / 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.6 – 2.7 m (2.9 – 3 yd).

Shirt: Style A: 150 cm (59″) wide fabric: 1.5 m (1.65 yd) / 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.1 – 2.2 m (2.3 – 2.4 yd) // Style B: 150 cm (59″) wide fabric: 1.34 – 1.45 m (1.5 – 1.6 yd) / 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.08 – 2.2 m (2.3 – 2.4 yd).
