A fascinating make

I enjoyed making this Day Pack. It was challenging as there were more than 30 pattern pieces and 20 odd pages of instructions but I found that if you took it step by step and trusted the instructions it all worked very well. I treated myself to the hardware kit in antique brass. I loved the look but found that the side top fastenings did not stay closed when the bag was in use so the bag opened at the top. I added a zip which solved the opening problem but the supplied closures still unhooked easily so I replaced them with pink plastic web buckles which completely solved the problem.

The material is waterproofed cotton from my local fabric store, Fabric World in Bletchley, the lining a viscose fabric also from the same place. The webbing was bought online and the pink cord was from a local market stall.  The bag is lovely to use and is big enough to easily hold all your cabin luggage needs.

Love it - Francli Daypack

Loved this make. Definitely need to take your time but came together really nicely. I used waterproof fabric from Flamingo Fabrics and add Bosal foam wadding to the back and base. I left off the elastic loops, everything else as it was described except I put webbing all the way round the top and used different clips to secure the top.
